EXPORT CHECK LIST

1. US Arabian Horse Registry’s exportation rule requires the horse to be located within the United States, Mexico, Canada, Caribbean Islands or Panama at the time the export endorsement is requested. If the horse has already been exported, the Registry may, at its discretion, choose to issue the export endorsement but may require the assistance of the foreign registry to ensure the identity of the horse and the validity of the request.

2. The US Arabian Horse Registry collects all required documents and transmits all documents together directly to the appropriate Foreign Stud Book Authority, and any other necessary documents as may be reasonably requested by that Stud Book Authority.

3. The Certificate of Registration and transferred to the new owner if applicable, Export Certificate and Export Identification will be issued in the current recorded owner’s name and any subsequent transfer(s) of ownership must be completed with the foreign registration authority. DNA typing is required by US Arabian Horse Registry prior to exportation, in addition to that of covering stallions for bred mares as per Rule 3 of the US AHR Rules. Almost all foreign registries require that a horse be DNA typed prior to exportation and some foreign registries then require re-sampling after importation to their country for cross-matching purposes. Exporters are advised to contact the appropriate foreign registry to determine any specific requirements.

4. When a horse is to be exported to another country, an Export Certificate, Export Identification, DNA test results, and Passport must be obtained from USAHR within 60 days of exportation. If a mare has been bred to a purebred stallion prior to exportation with the resultant foal to be born in the foreign country, the Stallion Covering Certificate will be required to be submitted to US Arabian Horse Registry as well as a copy of the Stallion Report showing the mare has been exposed to the named stallion and a copy of the covering Stallion‘s DNA test report. If a Stallion Covering Certificate is not available at the time of shipment, it must be submitted to USAHR as soon as it is received by the owner.

5. The Export Certificate requires the anticipated date of exportation, the horse’s name and registration number, sire and dam and their registration numbers, original registry and registration numbers of the horse and its sire and dam, breeder name and address, buyer name and address and seller name and address.

6.The Export Identification form must be completed and signed by the owner (or owner's authorized agent), including all whorls and chestnuts in the markings; this form must be submitted to USAHR at the time the Export Certificate is requested.

7. An application for registration in the foreign Stud Book or Register if the horse to be exported is foal recorded should be included.

8. A set of four color photographs of the horse (front, both sides and rear views) clearly showing the color, and the markings (or lack of markings) on the head, legs and body will need to be included.
Such fee as may be determined to USAHR.

9. If for any reason the requirements are not completed within 60 days of exportation, all Export documents may be obtained only after approval by USAHR and the payment of an additional fee (see Fee Schedule).

10. If a horse is exported to a country whose Stud Book is not recognized, the owner (or owner's authorized agent) must nevertheless satisfy all of the requirements listed in these regulations, and the horse must be DNA/blood typed and identified within 60 days of its return to the United States, Mexico, Canada, Caribbean Islands or Panama.

See Fee Schedule. A penalty fee of five (5) times or more of the Export fee may be imposed if a Member transports semen without first obtaining the Export Certificate and other documents required for this purpose. A separate Export Certificate procedure is required for each country to which semen is to be exported.

2. A Transported-stored Semen Verification (collection) must be completed and forwarded to US Arabian Horse Registry within three (3) days of each shipment of semen.
